Our ultimate aim is a Flat Panel Array with a multitude of emitters in a single vacuum enclosure to reduce the cost of stationary Digital Tomosynthesis ('sDT') relative to using a multitude of individual sources.

Panel is developing a compact veterinary imaging platform for companion animals, initially focused on head-related conditions involving the mouth, ears, and nose. Our break-in use case is in improving veterinary dental workflows in terms of speed and diagnostic certainty, and maximising the anesthetic 'window' available for intervention.
The aim is to help small-animal practices diagnose these cases faster and more effectively, reducing missed pathology, cutting clinician time and patient movement, and lowering the skill barrier for image acquisition and interpretation. The target customer is smaller urban or suburban veterinary practices that do not have in-house CT and need a more practical, affordable way to keep cases in-house.
The break-in product is based on moving-stage digital x-ray tomosynthesis, designed to fit into a normal treatment-room workflow with a compact footprint. Our proposition is whole-head 2D+ imaging in seconds, improve visualization of pathology compared with conventional 2D dental imaging, and reducing dependence on highly skilled positioning. Over time, we will extend this with AI-based reconstruction from perpendicular DT images to create CT-like views, alongside computer-aided diagnosis and software tools that increase diagnostic confidence and productivity.
Longer term, the product not just as an imaging solution but a broader companion-animal diagnostics platform. Our roadmap moves from best-in-class imaging hardware, to AI diagnostic software, to 3D reconstruction, and eventually to a multimodal platform combining x-ray and optical data for dental, aural, and nasal assessment, plus longitudinal disease monitoring.
In essence, we are trying to move veterinary clinics from single-purpose dental radiography toward a more comprehensive, software-driven diagnostic system that improves workflow, expands capability, and helps practices retain more valuable cases.

Relative to DT systems using moving sources, it will simplify the system and reduce cost, while improving portability and reduce acquisition time to reduce motion artefacts and the time during which a patient must remain still. The problems we specifically address are:
Clinicians are forced to select between 2D X-ray and 3D CT and compromise between image quality, cost, place of acquisition and dose.
Newer systems (like digital tomosynthesis) promised quality and low dose but fell short due to technological deficiencies - either size and lack of portability, or low flux and long acquisition times.
Point-of-care imaging must deliver clinically relevant diagnosis at cost effective price points.
Flat Panel Arrays have been proven to be possible and capable of delivering low-dose DT at the point-of-care, now we are innovating to make them more capable and lower-cost.

technology
/ OUR FOCUS

Improving SWAP
Our system avoids the pitfalls of first generation devices to reduce system size, weight and power ('SWAP') requirements and allows us to significantly increase the size of the active area.
Reducing Cost
We power multiple panels from a single commercial-off-the-shelf power supply to reduce cost and allow design simplification.
Leveraging Machine Learning
Deep learning image reconstruction extends the deployment configurations and allows reduced dose protocols.
Enabling advanced imaging
Our focus is on multiple energies and fast dual energy imaging.
Our product roadmap
Building on our team’s decades of experience in X-ray source commercialization, our roadmap progresses quickly to deploy a marketable system in veterinary and NDE applications.
The first system will come in unshielded (veterinary) and then shielded (NDE) versions. The focus is on quickly establishing a product in-market.
Our focus is proving that our next-gen X-ray source delivers the power and scalability to transform imaging, and that transformation is already in motion at Panel.
